Let’s Start Caring and Stop Complaining
I am just a normal citizen living in Brgy. Dalakit. I never ask for anything fancy—only a safe and comfortable place for my family to live in. As a mother, I want nothing but the best for my children, just like any other parent.
Last month, I had a humbling experience when I went to the barangay hall for my baby’s vaccination. As part of the process, my baby’s weight needed to be checked before the vaccine could be given. However, there was a problem—the weighing scale for newborns and infants was not working. I learned that it had been broken for several months already.
Because of this, the health workers were using a weighing scale meant for babies six months old and above—those who can already sit or have stronger backs. This made me wonder: What about newborns and younger infants? When we asked how long the scale had been broken, I was surprised to hear that it had been months.
To make the story short, I decided to donate a weighing scale. I realized that if we truly want our community to become a better place, change has to start with us. Complaining alone will not fix what is broken—action will.
I want our barangay to be a safe haven for our children, a place where they feel cared for, protected, and loved by the people around them. I believe this is possible if we choose to care about what is happening in our community and take part in making things better.
Let us start caring and stop complaining. In time, we will see positive change.
